ThriveCart + Fomo: Building a High-Converting Checkout Experience πβ¨
ThriveCart is world-class at one thing: getting people to the finish line. But even at the checkout, shoppers can experience "buyer's remorse" or hesitation. Fomo bridges that gap by showing your visitors that they aren't alone other real people are buying right now.
According to conversion rate optimization (CRO) principles, displaying real-time activity and recovery nudges on a checkout page can significantly reduce abandonment. Here is how to set up the ultimate trust-building duo.
Step 1: Connecting the Data Engine (Webhooks) π
First, we need to tell ThriveCart to send your sales data to Fomo. This ensures your social proof is always fresh and accurate.
-
In Fomo: Navigate to Notifications > Add Notifications

> All Notifications. Search for ThriveCart and click Connect.

-
Copy the URL: Locate the "Webhook URL" field and copy it. This is the "bridge" between your platforms.

-
In ThriveCart: Click your avatar (top right) > Settings

> API & Webhooks > Webhooks & Notifications > View Settings.

-
Paste and Save: Paste your Fomo URL into the Webhook URL field. Give it a name like "Fomo-Webhook" so you remember it later, and click Save.

You should see something like this at the end:

Now, every "cha-ching" in ThriveCart will instantly be sent to your Fomo event feed! πΈ
Step 2: Planting the Fomo Snippet (The CRO Secret) π οΈ
To show these notifications on your ThriveCart pages, you need to add your Fomo snippet. ThriveCart provides specific tracking fields that give you total control over where the social proof appears.
First grab your code: If you don't have it already, you will need to go to Settings>Embed> Your Embed Snippet click here to find your Fomo Code Snippet..
-
Locate your Product: In ThriveCart, edit your product and head to the Checkout tab, then the Tracking sub-tab.

-
Enable Tracking: Toggle on "Do you want to add tracking code to your checkout pages?"
Where to Paste: * Field 2 (Checkout page only): This is a high-impact CRO move. Pasting your snippet here ensures social proof only appears during the critical decision-making moment on the checkout page. π―
-
Field 1 (All pages): Use this if you want Fomo to show up throughout your entire funnel (including upsells and downsells).

For more make sure to read ThriveCart documentation.
-
π‘οΈ Step 3: Recovering Lost Revenue with Abandoned Cart Notifications
Over 70% of shoppers abandon their carts before finishing. With ThriveCart, you can use Fomo Abandoned Cart Notifications to nudge hesitant buyers back to the finish line.
-
The Strategy: When a user stays on your ThriveCart checkout page for too long without buying, Fomo can trigger a private "nudge" (e.g., "Wait! Don't leave your items behind.") to reignite their intent.
-
How to Connect:
1. Activate the Abandoned Cart notification in your Fomo dashboard.
2. Set the Cart/Checkout URL to your specific ThriveCart checkout link.
3. Set the timing (we recommend 30-60 seconds) to catch them right as they might be thinking of leaving. β³π₯
π Advanced Synergy: From Events to "Wisdom of the Crowd"
Capturing sales is just the beginning. To truly move the needle on your revenue, try these advanced strategies:
Social Proof Density with Custom Roundups
Individual notifications are great, but Custom Roundups are a "Trust Bomb." Instead of showing one sale at a time, you can show a summary: "14 people purchased the Platinum Bundle in the last 3 hours." * The CRO Value: This creates massive urgency and "Wisdom of the Crowd" for your hot-selling products.

Precision Targeting with Page Rules
You might want to hide Fomo on a specific high-ticket coaching page but show it on your digital product page.
- The Strategy: Use Page Rules to decide exactly which checkout URLs display which notifications. This ensures your social proof is always relevant to what the customer is currently looking at. π―
π¨ Customizing Your Message
To change the wording of your ThriveCart alerts (e.g., changing "Someone bought" to "Another expert joined"), visit the Notifications tab in Fomo, find the ThriveCart template, and click Edit.
