Over my notification limit - now what?
If you’ve reached 100% of your notification limit, it’s time to celebrate your store has reached a new Success Metric. It means your audience is engaged, your traffic is surging, and your "Live Store" atmosphere is working overtime.
However, in high-growth e-commerce, "Silence is Expensive." If your notifications pause at the start of the month, you lose the Conversion Continuity that turns browsers into buyers. To keep your momentum, you must decide whether to expand your capacity (Upgrade) or tighten your "Display Budget" (Settings).
How to Find Your Plan & Billing Details
To see exactly how your store is performing and manage your subscription, follow these steps:
-
Log in to your Fomo dashboard.
-
Click the Orange Button in the bottom-left corner of your screen.
-
Click on Account,

The Account Page Structure: Once in the account page make sure to scroll down.
-
Current Status: At the top of this section, you’ll see your current plan, your monthly notification limit, and your Restart Cycle Date (when your count resets).
-
Available Plans: Below that, you will see the full list of tiers (Starter, Business, Pro, Advanced) allowing you to upgrade or downgrade instantly.
-
The Auto-Upgrade Toggle: At the bottom, you will find the Auto-Upgrade toggle.
⚠️ Important Note: By default, Auto-Upgrade is ON. This ensures that if you hit a traffic spike, Fomo seamlessly moves you to the next tier so your social proof never goes dark. If you prefer to stay on your current plan even if you reach the limit, you can toggle this OFF here. If you want to learn more about the auto-upgrade.
🧠 Strategic "Budgeting" (Settings > Limits)
If you aren't ready to upgrade, you can make your current plan last longer by being more selective about when and how often you show proof. Navigate to Settings > Limits:
-
Notifications per Page: By default, Fomo shows 20 notifications per page. For small stores, this is too high and leads to a fast usage. We recommend reducing this to 5–10 to keep the proof impactful without running out.

-
Max per Visitor Session: Toggle this ON to cap the total number of notifications a single person sees.

-
Session Duration: You can define what Fomo considers a "session" in minutes (e.g., 30 minutes). This ensures you aren't "spending" 50 notifications on one person who stays on your site for an hour.
-
Limit Protection (Multi-Site): If you run multiple websites on one account, use this to distribute your "budget pool" between your different domains. Learn how to manage distribution here.
- View All Tiers: Ready to jump to the next level? View our Pricing Page.
👉Pro Advices:
Don't waste your budget on visitors who bounce immediately.
-
Go to Settings > Advanced.
-
Change the Initial Trigger to "When visitor starts scrolling."
- The Logic: This ensures a notification is only "spent" when a user shows Active Intent. You save your displays for engaged visitors who are actually consuming your content, maximizing your ROI. 🎯
- Based on best practices from Shopify and BigCommerce, social proof should be consistent. Use this table to align your Notification Impressions with your monthly traffic:
| Monthly Plan | Display Limit | Strategy (10 displays per person) |
| Starter | 8,000 | Best for ~800 Sessions/mo |
| Business | 40,000 | Best for ~4,000 Sessions/mo |
| Pro | 300,000 | Best for ~30,000 Sessions/mo |
| Advanced | 1,000,000 | Best for ~100,000 Sessions/mo |
| Unlimited | No Ceiling | Maximum Momentum |
- User sessions in Google Analytics
The following screenshot from Google Analytics is the result of opening the Acquisition tab (left side margin) > Overview.

Above we see a total of 2,144 user sessions in a 7 day timespan.
Each user spends an average of 1 minute and 55 seconds on this website.
This means that in a given month, this site has around 8,500 user sessions.
If a Fomo user is on the Pro Plan (300,000 notification limit), they could set a "Max notifications per user session" limit of 30 notifications per 60 minutes.
- Reading Room: Give your visitors time to breathe. Go to Settings > Timing and ensure there are at least 5–10 seconds between each notification.
